A video programme by SAW Video Media Art Centre.

Public Domain originated as a video commissioning project of SAW Video, a media-art
centre located in Ottawa. In 2009, seven artists were selected from a national
call for proposals to create videos drawn from archival films and photographs held in
the collection of Library and Archives Canada. Over the course of a year, SAW Video
assisted the artists with the process of researching and collecting materials for use in
their work. The completed commissioning project premiered in Ottawa on June 24,
2010, and has toured to a number of venues across Canada, the USA, and the
UK in 2011-13.

The pitch list will be revealed leading up to the event!

Pitches start at 7:00PM, but we’ll be in place and welcoming folks in at 6:30PM – come early so you can grab a drink, a good seat, and meet some cool people! By the end of the night, you’ll have heard some really cool ideas and seen one of them win $1,000 cash.

But that’s not where it ends – stick around afterward for Awesome Hours, where you can sit down with trustees, past pitchers and winners, and enthusiastic community members to chat about the Awesome Foundation, your pitch idea, or anything that’s on your mind.

The Exposure Art Festival is looking for talented artists and designers to sell their products and/or designs at this years Design Fair!! We are looking for students who have created their own items and want to sell them! Items include:

– accessories – jewelry – artwork – paintings – clothes – photos – and any other handmade crafts/designs!

All profits go to the artists, and it’s a great way to get your brand out there! If you are interested, please submit an example of your designs or items to before February 24th!!

That’s right, next week there will be snakes in the studio! These beautiful creatures make for fantastic macro photography.

Our snakes are domestic and non-venomous, and they will be modeled and displayed by their personal handler.

The species presented will be rainbow boa (Epicrates cenchria cenchria) and corn snakes (Pantherophis guttatus).

Drop off your eyeglasses at the QUEEN’S CENTRE (ARC) during the following times for a chance to win great prizes!

There will also be dropboxes located around campus if you can’t make it during these times. Be the vision of tomorrow.

So, grab your old prescription eyeglasses when you are home for reading week and drop them off on February 25th and March 1st at the ARC or at any of the dropbox locations throughout the week. These donated eyeglasses will bring vision to Latin Americans in need!

Queens Pride – Kink 101 with Kingston Kinksters

The Kingston Kinksters and Queen’s Pride Project are once again presenting a night of kinky information and fun!

This is a fabulous opportunity, with an emphasis on sex-positivity, diversity and kinky sexuality. There will truly be something for everyone here, from the “just curious” to the experienced — from exploring gender roles and power dynamics to safety, toys and demonstrations.

If you are new to kink, this is an excellent opportunity to get a good overview of BDSM and to ask the questions that you have been wondering about. If you have been around kink for awhile, come out and support the team and learn something new or from a different perspective – from the presenters, the questions posed or the other folk present.
