A video programme by SAW Video Media Art Centre.

Public Domain originated as a video commissioning project of SAW Video, a media-art
centre located in Ottawa. In 2009, seven artists were selected from a national
call for proposals to create videos drawn from archival films and photographs held in
the collection of Library and Archives Canada. Over the course of a year, SAW Video
assisted the artists with the process of researching and collecting materials for use in
their work. The completed commissioning project premiered in Ottawa on June 24,
2010, and has toured to a number of venues across Canada, the USA, and the
UK in 2011-13.

Programme:

• Sara Angelucci (Toronto) – The Beauty Pageant News (9 min.)
• Maureen Bradley (Victoria) – Beyond the Pale (16 min.)
• Gennaro de Pasquale (Montreal) – Vortex (12 min.)
• Steve Reinke (Chicago/Toronto) – Not Torn (Asunder from the Very Start) (10 min.)

When: Thursday, Feb 14 at 6:45-9:30

Where: The Red Room, Kingston Hall

RSVP on Facebook

This Valentines Day, join Oxfam at Queen’s for a cozy movie night, featuring yummy homemade fair trade baked goods and tea/hot chocolate from our Fair Trade Co-op! (all by donation and BYOM – Bring Your Own Mug)

We will be watching the contemporary comedic and romantic classic, She’s the Man (not a classic?), and informally discussing the implications of gender and language, and how stereotypes perpetuate inequality.

Spend this Valentines Day surrounded by friends. Love may not be fair, BUT OUR TREATS ARE ♥

Leading up to international Women’s Day on March 8th, Oxfam Canada’s Show Your Love Campaign is trying to raise $50 000 to aid in projects targeting global poverty relief. Oxfam believes that ending global poverty begins with women’s rights and gender equality. There are enough resources in the world, the problem with how they are shared.
